Report: GSC Game World continues work on Stalker 2

Developer GSC Game World has apparently resumed work on Stalker 2 in the wake of the studio relocating from Ukraine.

That’s according to a message on the game’s official Discord – as reported by Poland’s GRYOnline and spotted by VGC – in which one of the developers replied to a fan asking how work was going on the game with “It continues”.

Stalker 2 has been impacted by Russia’s war in Ukraine. The title was initially set to come out this December, but work was put on hold in March due to the conflict. In a video posted on March 2nd, GSC confronted the question of the war directly, having been asked how the studio was doing in the face of this attrocity.

“On the 24th of February, Russia declared war on Ukraine and sent rockets, tanks and soldiers to our homeland,” the developer said.

“Our country is forced to fight for existence again. Seems like this is the price of freedom.”

“Now we are striving to help our employees and their families to survive. The game development shifted to the sidelines. But we will definitely continue. After the victory. Glory to Ukraine.”

That same month it was reported that the team had relocated from Kyiv to Prague in the Czech Republic.
