Ubisoft appears to hint that Assassin’s Creed Origins’ 60fps update is imminent

Ubisoft has seemingly hinted at plans to release a new-gen update for Assassin’s Creed Origins imminently.

Last August, Ubisoft added 60fps support for 2018’s Assassin’s Creed Odyssey when played on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S via backwards compatibility.

And in December, the company said it was also “looking into adding 60fps support for Assassin’s Creed Origins”.

Reliable patch tracking Twitter account PlayStation Game Size recently claimed that Assassin’s Creed Origins update 1.60 had been added to the PSN database, with the patch notes reportedly confirming that it enables a higher framerate when playing the game on PS5.

And on Monday, a tweet from the official Assassin’s Creed account suggested the update’s release could arrive in the coming days.

The message included a line from Assassin’s Creed Origins protagonist Bayek before teasing “the wait is almost over”.

Assassin’s Creed Origins will join the Xbox Game Pass library in early June, so it’s possible the 60fps update could be released to coincide with the game’s arrival on the subscription service.

Bloomberg claimed in February that Ubisoft was planning to release a smaller-scale, stealth-focused Assassin’s Creed game this year or in 2023.

Codenamed Rift and starring Assassin’s Creed Valhalla‘s Basim, the title was originally planned as an expansion for the most recent series entry before being spun into a standalone game last year, it said.

Assassin’s Creed Rift will reportedly be released before the officially announced Assassin’s Creed Infinity, which is a collaboration between Ubisoft Quebec (Odyssey) and Ubisoft Montreal (Origins and Valhalla).

It’s been claimed that Assassin’s Creed Infinity will be a massive online game set across multiple historical periods, and one that that evolves over time as a live service.
