Sega Genesis 2 Mini – every game confirmed

Sega has announced some of the games that will be included in the Sega Genesis 2 Mini.

The mini console was announced in June, and has a design that looks like the Genesis 2, which was a hardware revision of the original Genesis.

The Genesis 2 Mini will include 50 games, including Sega CD titles.

It will be released on October 27 in Japan and will cost ¥9,980 ($75). A western release date and price has yet to be confirmed.

Although the full list of 50 games has not been confirmed, Sega has announced 10 of them.

The full list announced so far is as follows:

  • Silpheed (Sega CD)
  • Shining Force CD (Sega CD)
  • Sonic CD (Sega CD)
  • Mansion of Hidden Souls (Sega CD)
  • Popful Mail (Sega CD)
  • Virtua Racing (Genesis)
  • Bonanza Bros (Genesis)
  • Shining in the Darkness (Genesis)
  • Thunder Force IV (Genesis)
  • Magical Taruruto (Genesis)

We will update this article with more titles as and when when they’re announced.

Yosuke Okunari, who co-hosted the Mega Drive Mini 2 announcement, suggested in October 2020 that Sega’s next mini console could have been based on the Sega Dreamcast.

In an interview with Famitsu magazine following the Japan-only release of the Game Gear Mini, Okunari said he wanted the next project to deliver hardware that had stronger global potential.

“I think for the next one, we may go with a concept close to the Mega Drive Mini,” he said. “If I have to say some names, it could be an SG-1000 Mini or a Dreamcast Mini.”
