The first Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile screenshots have appeared online

Several screenshots which appear to be from Call of Duty: Warzone‘s mobile version have appeared online.

As first posted by Twitter user CoD_Perseus, an account with a history of posting pre-release Call of Duty content, the screenshots show off the beginning of a match as players drop from the plane, the gulag, which is an area players are sent to once they’ve been killed for the first time in a match, and two others appear to be in various areas of the original Verdansk map.

Activision announced in March that it is working a mobile version of Call of Duty Warzone, the free-to-play game which was released in March 2020 and attracted 100 million players in 13 months.

The game is currently in closed alpha testing, following a series of invites sent out by the publisher to select players.

“Our mission with Project Aurora, the codename for our new mobile title, is to bring friends, families, and people around the world together in a global community of diverse players with a fast-paced, precise, and high-quality battle royale action experience that delivers a fresh new way to play,” Activision said.

It added: “The closed alpha is limited in size and with it we are looking to simply start to improve tuning, stress test matches, identify and fix bugs, as well as collect feedback and insights on all aspects of the game as new features come online.”

Activision plans to open the Warzone mobile’s testing further in the future.

Last August the company confirmed the formation of an internal mobile game development studio called Solid State, which was established to develop the new entry in the Call of Duty series.
