10 years after its reveal, sci-fi game Routine has returned as an Xbox exclusive

A decade after it was first announced, sci-fi horror game Routine has been re-revealed and is releasing for PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Game Pass.

The game, which has no release date and was originally designed around permadeath, is a first-person title set on an abandoned Lunar base designed around an 80’s vision of the future.

“Curious exploration turns into a need for survival when a lunar base goes completely quiet,” reads the game’s synopsis. “Searching for answers puts you face to face with an enemy who is certain the main threat is you. Discoveries lead to deeper unknowns and the only way to go is forward.”

According to UK-based developer Lunar Software, which has partnered with indie publisher Raw Fury, Routine will feature “full body awareness, deadzone aiming & minimal UI help create a gripping and atmospheric experience.”

Players will need to run, hide, or attempt to defend themselves using the upgradable C.A.T. as a last resort.

“Like many others, I have been waiting for this game for a long time,” said Raw Fury CEO Jonas Antonson in a prepared statement.

Originally, I thought I’d just get to experience it as a gamer and a fan. But then the developers decided to team up with us! I’m beyond excited to go this amazing journey with them.”
