Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest to be both physical and digital event

The Summer Game Fest show is going to be both a physical and digital event in 2023.

That’s according to host Geoff Keighley (pictured), who revealed that next year’s show will take place in person as well as online. The personality said at the end of this year’s Summer Game Fest presentation that the plan was “to bring the gaming community together” in 2023.

No dates have been announced yet.

Keighley is going to be hosting showcases at the Gamescom Opening Night Live in August, as well as The Game Awards in December.

The Summer Game Fest started in 2020 to help fill the voice left by E3 that year, which didn’t take place due to the coronavirus pandemic. The LA trade show returned last year with a digital event, but the same is not true this year. E3 is going to be returning in 2023, however.

“We’re excited about coming back in 2023 with both a digital and an in-person event,” the CEO and president of E3 organiser ESA Stanley Pierre-Louis said.

“As much as we love these digital events, and as much as they reach people and we want that global reach, we also know that there’s a really strong desire for people to convene — to be able to connect in person and see each other and talk about what makes games great.”
